After playing the Dreamer family I decided to add the Newson's to the game. While I'm not sure where they will fit in in the play order in future I felt they deserved a start.
So whenever I play a new neighbourhood I throw down (or build) a few lots and put all the pre-made families from the bins into the neighbourhood, more for friendships than anything and I give them a phone and pc and generally leave them alone.
So let's see what's about to occur...
"Oh Mr & Mrs Goodie, it's so kind of you to move in with us and help us with our family".
"Family? said Faith.
"Lots of family!".
Combining funds from both households gave them enough to modestly furnish.
6 single beds bought in advance and a double as well as facilities.
Knowledge lover Herbert has a job in the Medical field, he fired off to work quicker than you can say 'potty'.
Leaving Faith to look after the little ones...
...and clean up... (at least she likes getting skills)...
...and fending off the neighbourhood wolves.
Eldest boy Gavin is a Fortune Sim with a LTW to become a Biz Tycoon. He found a job in Politics and really wants to go to college.
Gavin dated Lowry Burb as a teen.
Ginger is a Family sim with a LTW to reach her Golden Anniversary. We've seen her a lot through the rounds and she'd gone steady/had her first kiss with the now elder Campbell Goth back when he was a teen as well as dating Donny Burb when he was a teen. She and her friend Ivy have lots of dating history.

Ginger got a teen job in the Gamer career.
The other members of the family are Gabriella and Gallagher as well as Garret & Georgia.
Are all the siblings meant to be twins?
Fortune lover Gavin had a wish to enter private school and so with her limited cooking skills Faith whipped up a batch of spaghetti and it was enough to impress him into allowing the 4 oldest kids into his school.
which was typical as both Garret & Georgia grew up the next day. :D
Herbert was working his way through the ranks and spent lots of nights out but had time to help the newest kids with their homework.
With the funds from various jobs coming in it was decided to revamp and buy a few nicer things. The downstairs bathroom moved to the other corner to allow for a study area and nicer furnishings along with a piano were added to the living area.
Upstairs saw separate boys and girls bedrooms as well as Faith and Herbert's in the middle.
A small landing area leads off to separate toilets and shower room and there's a bath in another room.
Faith encourages the kids to learn new skills and she's doing great with her own cooking skill.
Just occasionally in a big household everyone gets to sit together, apart from Ginger who was at work.
"Shall we celebrate the kids getting A+'s? wink wink?"
Ginger is excited, Dandy Dreamer is coming over today and she hopes they might Go Steady!
You know that moment when they ask if they can bring a friend and you say yes and it turns out to be an 'ex'?
"Whatever Campbell, get over it!"
ooh he looks mad, guess the game still thinks that they are going steady!
That put a slight wrinkle in the plan for her and Dandy but never mind.
Gavin tried a chat up line or two on Ivy who for some reason was not interested in her bf's brother!
After school the next day Meadow wasn't interested much either though Ginger had more luck chatting with her new friend.
Gavin and Ginger made top of their teen careers. yay.
Herbert got a big promotion.
Gavin is a bit of a softy when it comes to his siblings.
and he likes to have a bit of fun when he's supposed to be tidying the garden.
Everyone's enjoying the outdoors today with Herbert practising his Tai Chi and Faith becoming best friends with Garret.
Faith reaches the pinnacle of the Culinary field when she can rustle up a baked Alaska.
You can keep your Lobster, in this household we're all about the Desserts!
If she ever gets a minute to herself I'm sure she'd love to come visit, thanks Sue!
She has enough trouble getting the bathroom to herself!
The end of the week rolls around and Gallagher turns teen.
This Fortune Sim wishes to own 5 top level businesses!

Popularity Sim Gabriella has a LTW to become a Celebrity Chef after all those years of watching her Step Mum/Grandma Faith cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
She is much happier with her new look!
Summary;-
Actually fun if hard work with all these people! Definitely helped having Faith and Herbert join the family with funds and time.
Faith and Herbert are easy to play, Knowledge lovers so always want to skill and woohoo. :D
Gavin and Ginger earned a few scholarships so they are set up to join college perhaps at a later time whilst the younger ones worked on skills and friends as per their wishes.
Next time in Pleasantview we'll be off to The Pleasant family where widow Goopy (Gilscarbo) Pleasant lives with his natural son Noah and alien twins Leo & Lynx.
Before then I'm off to Veronaville for a round!

Color me impressed! I would have never thought to blend Sim Bin families. Although like you I tend to put them in the neighborhood. I have played the Newsons a couple of times and always made myself miserable. However if I am remembering correctly, Ginger made it to Uni in Prosperity Falls, I think.

DeleteI usually put down 4 houses and blend all the families just 'cos I'm lazy, heh. :)
Maybe I'll add the rest of them in when my population goes down a bit!
Cool idea, putting the oldies with the Newsons (I usually lets the Newson defend for themselves for every time I play them

DeleteGreat idea to have the Oldies join the Newsons! In my game, the Newsons had to do it all alone, with the teens taking turns going to school and looking after the younger ones.

DeleteThanks, I can't remember if this was a premade or one I quickly built but as soon as they had decent funds I moved things around more for ease of movement as it was a massive mistake having a door upstairs off the bedroom as no-one would use the landing entrance because of it and they all kept cancelling each other out.
What a fun idea. I like that the Goodie's had some extra "family" to help look after so the older kids weren't in quite as bad of shape for this whole family. I have always dreaded getting to this family in my megahood if I ever get there.
ReplyDeleteI’ve blended this family a few times but this is the first time I’ve really played them. It was more enjoyable than I thought and definitely helped the older kids be able to have some fun for a change. :)
DeleteI just stumbled across your blog since I'm having a little Sims 2 renaissance and have just started playing the Newsons. Oh wow, the kids grow up gorgeous! What a great idea to combine them with the Goodie household, that seemed to make things smoother. Haha, the old love interest was hilarious. Awkward! Hopefully he won't mess up the budding romance.
